Let's use 'cut off ' as an example.


a) I cut off the water supply. [Meaning: no more water]

b) For no reason, he cut me off while I was talking just now. [Meaning: stop or interrupt]

c) That fellow cut me off along Jalan Ais Potong. [Meaning: block / overtake ]

d) Datuk Wangi cuts his son off without any financial support. [Meaning: stop giving something]

e) Heavy rains brought floods to Kampung Hijau which completely cut off the village from its neighbours. [Meaning: difficult to reach or enter]
