MODEL TEST 1: SECTION D
32    a) He was angry with his friend but got over it by talking to him. He was angry with his enemy
but did not talk to him about it, so his anger got worse. If you deal with your anger by talking to
the person involved then the anger will not grow.

(b) By talking to him about it

(c) It symbolises his growing anger.

(d) In The Poison Tree, the persona feels that anger that is not expressed and talked about can have very negative effects on the person who is angry and the person whom you are angry with.

(b) A tree

(c) The persona’s foe died.

(d) I learned that we must not allow our anger to grow. If we deal with it straightaway, it stops becoming a problem. In the poem, the persona allows his anger to grow as he doesn’t talk about what’s making him angry. In the end, it seems as if the persona and his foe both suffer in different ways.

(b) The poet is trying to show a bonding of love between the child and her grandmother.

(c) She has a hunched back and she becomes forgetful.

(d) Yes, it is important to show our love to our grandparents because as they age, their life on earth becomes shorter and we never know when they will pass away. When that happens, there will be no way for us to show or tell them how we felt. Therefore, it is important to show them our love while we are able so that they too will be happy knowing how their loved ones think of them.

(b) They are very brave, fearless and loyal.

(c) Theirs not to make reply, / Theirs not to reason why, / Theirs but to do and die,

(d) I think the soldiers were brave even though they knew they were fighting a losing battle. I do not think it was foolish of them because they were carrying out their duty.

(b) To divert his attention, the persona’s mother told him that he was dreaming.

(c) He heard voices and an engine roar.
